Americana: String Quartets by Montgomery, Snowden & Barber

The program features works by several contemporary American composers including Jessie Montgomery’s thrilling “Strum” for string quartet and Kristapor Najarian’s dramatic “Tale for Two Violins”. Steven Snowden’s evocative Appalachian Polaroids is described by the composer “a musical portrait of the unique mix of hardship and joy that comes with living an isolated rural life”. The centerpiece of the program will be a performance of Samuel Barber’s String Quartet featuring the iconic Adagio movement. The musicians of the Newport String Project will be joined by guest musician, Elizabeth Stefan, viola.

All proceeds support the educational and performance activitiesof the Newport String Project.
