Conimicut is a historic bayside village that aims to be an aesthetically pleasing and safe community in which to live and a destination community to visit for people of all ages; to encourage community involvement with active participation; to safeguard its natural resources while protecting waterfront properties from erosion; to showcase its natural resources to enhance tourism; and to attract and support businesses to the village center that are in harmony with this vision.

The core of Conimicut Village consists of United States Census District RI-215. The 2008 population estimate for Conimicut Village is approximately 3,350 people residing in 1,330 households.The 525 acre Conimicut Village is bordered by the neighborhoods of Cole Farm to the north, Lockwood Corner to the west, and Riverview to the south. Mill Cove and Buckeye Brook form the border between Conimicut and Riverview. The Providence River and Narragansett Bay are the eastern border. Though not in the census district, the Cole Farm and Lockwood Corner neighborhoods are generally considered part of greater Conimicut.
