30 Cutler Street, Warren, RI 02885

Just two blocks east of Main, on Child Street, is the Cutler Mills district. It is a dynamic section of Warren that has recently undergone an incredible rejuvenation. The driving force behind this rejuvenation has been 30 Cutler Street and the passionate and talented tenants that have made this mill their home away from home.

Constructed by Cutler Manufacturing in 1881, 30 Cutler Street, had been occupied by a number of manufacturing companies before its eventual abandonment in the 1980’s. In 1995 Dave Wescott and Bob Barrow, at the time co-owners of Warren Chair Works, purchased this ramshackle building—using 25,000 of the existing 100,000 square feet of space for their business. Slowly but surely they began to clean up, renovate and lease the remaining space, building small boxes on the sprawling floors to accommodate the tenant’s requirements.

Eventually, the once derelict mill building was transformed into a thriving community. It now provides space for a unique and diverse collection of more than forty artists, artisans and small business owners specializing in signs, fine furniture, home accessories, sculpture, photography, jewelry, ceramics, textiles, painting, graphic and web design, marketing and promotions, silk-screened apparel, custom shoes, windows, furniture restoration, rowing rigs and copper weather vanes!
