Husband and wife Jon Buonaccorsi and Sara Agniel Buonaccorsi are excited to bring a new contemporary art gallery to the city of Providence. Buonaccorsi+Agniel will open its doors in mid-October with their inaugural show, YES!

Jon Buonaccorsi founded Tiny Showcase, an online art gallery, in 2005 with the goal of connecting artists and art enthusiasts by producing limited edition "tiny" affordable artworks that sell online for the same price as a CD or a book. Since it’s inception, Tiny Showcase has sold over a hundred thousand works of art, gaining an international following. The site has garnered recognition in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Business Week, O Magazine, Real Simple, Newsweek, and Wired among others.

Sara Agniel Buonaccorsi began Gallery Agniel in 1998 and closed its doors in 2007. The gallery enjoyed a loyal following in Southern New England and was favorably reviewed in Art Forum, Art New England, Yankee Magazine, RI Monthly and other publications. The gallery was honored by the International Association of Art Critics (AICA/USA) for the Best Show in a Commercial Gallery in New England for a Neal Walsh solo exhibition in 2005. Sara has published essays in catalogues for various museum exhibitions notably for traveling exhibitions of the work of Indonesian artist Entang Wiharso and for the RISD Museum’s 2006 Wunderground.

The inspiration for the new gallery, Buonaccorsi+Agniel, arose when Jon’s other venture, The Headlight Hotel, a fine art screen printing studio started in 2010, grew quicker than anticipated and needed a little extra room. The couple decided to look into a larger space where they could combine a gallery and The Headlight Hotel’s needs. They found just what they were looking for on Sims Avenue and love the location adjacent to The Steel Yard’s classes, studios and busy events schedule. Other neighboring buildings are home to fabrication and design firms, artists studios and the Monohasset Mill residential complex. The Headlight Hotel printing studio will occupy the back of the space while the gallery will fill the street front retail area.

The gallery will provide a space for community events as well as exhibitions as Jon and Sara attempt to reunite the artists and lovers of art in Providence.
