The Clinic provides nearly 7,000 patient visits annually to over 2,000 patients by mobilizing our active statewide corps of over 700 volunteers and community partners, a lean professional staff of 7 full-time equivalents, and 7 AmeriCorps VISTA volunteers. With an annual budget of just $1 million, the Clinic leverages over $5 million in additional donated health services and medical supplies to provide vital medical care to Rhode Island’s uninsured, low-income adults. Unlike a walk-in clinic, emergency room, or urgent care setting, the Clinic provides a medical home that includes coordinated health services comprised of primary care, labs and diagnostics, specialty care, prescription medications, follow-up visits, counseling and wellness programs that help uninsured adults get and stay healthy. The Clinic is also a strategic link to education and training in the health care field. The Clinic collaborates with leading academic and training partners to ensure that students in the health care field gain real-world experience and skills that lead to graduation, certification, and licensure.
