Progreso Latino is a community agency dedicated to helping the Latino and immigrant communities of Rhode Island achieve greater self-sufficiency and self-determination.
 

Progreso Latino’s mission is to provide quality, comprehensive services that promote education, economic development, leadership and social progress for Latinos and other immigrants. Our vision, as an organization is to create a new vision of community that utilizes the assets in our people and develops the skills needed to fulfill individual potential and support strong families.

Latinos and other immigrant communities in Rhode Island face the myriad of problems associated with poverty, including

a) high unemployment

b) a lack of literacy and language skills

c) unequal access to educational resources

d) a high rate of high school dropouts

e) inadequate job skills

f) substance abuse

g) crime

h) domestic violence and teen pregnancy.

During Progreso Latino’s 30+ year history, we have worked with a range of community agencies and institutions to aggressively and comprehensively combat the range of problems this population faces.
