Fredrick Jordy holds the Bachelor’s degree in Organ Performance from NEC, studying organ with Yuko Hayashi and conducting with Lorna Cooke de Varon and Donald Teeters. He was awarded the Chadwick Medal, given to a promising graduate for distinction in musical performance and academic excellence. He received a Master’s degree in the Performance of Early Music in 1987, as a voice student of Laurie Monahan. Mr. Jodry is currently Director of Choral Activities at Brown University, and Music Director for the First Unitarian Church, Providence. While at conservatory, Mr. Jodry founded the Schola Cantorum of Boston, a 12-voice ensemble dedicated to the performance of Renaissance sacred music. For over 20 years, the group has been recognized for their lively and stylish performances of vocal polyphony. They have performed throughout New England, and have performed in numerous Boston Early Music Festival concerts. The Schola was invited to perform for the American Renaissance Society, and has often been recorded for broadcast on NPR. The Schola has collaborated with the Boston Camerata in recording 7 CDs, ranging from Nueva España: Music from the New World, to French Baroque works of Gilles and Charpentier, and American shape-note and Shaker Music. Under the direction of Joel Cohen, Schola Cantorum Boston has been featured with the Boston Camerata for performances at Tanglewood and Merkin Hall, New York.
