In 1996, nine galleries banded together to form Gallery Night Providence. Ten years and twenty-three galleries later, Gallery Night Providence has grown into a regional visual arts extravaganza. Four art buses travel the neighborhoods of Providence depositing people at galleries, museums and historic sites. Over 10,000 people each year enjoy exhibitions, demonstrations, lectures, live music and performances.

The New York Times, The Boston Globe, Yankee Magazine and several travel magazines have featured articles on Gallery Night Providence. Visitors from as far away as India, England, Texas and Arizona have taken part. People from all walks of life and all nations have come to Providence to sample the city’s rich visual arts scene.

Gallery Night Providence runs for nine months of the year, from March through November. One night a month, on the third Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m., twenty-three galleries and museums open their doors to a visual arts party. Free parking is available at eight conveniently located parking lots. Its fun, its free and its fabulous!
