"Requiem for the Living" Kickstarter Campaign

"Requiem for the Living" Kickstarter Campaign

Presented by Providence Singers at Providence Singers Kickstarter

Dan Forrest’s Requiem for the Living, performed by the Singers in November 2014, made a lasting impression on chorus and audience alike. In January 2017, the Singers will head to Mechanics Hall in Worcester, Mass., to record Forrest’s work for chorus and chamber orchestra.

The Providence Singers have launched a 30-day Kickstarter campaign to cover studio costs, orchestra fees, recording engineers, and distribution expenses for creating the fourth in their series of American Masterworks recordings. The series began in 2007 and is focused on preserving and expanding audiences for excellent choral works by American composers — works that are not frequently performed and may not be familiar to American audiences. The total cost of the recording project is estimated at $40,000. The Singers hope to raise $8,000 through their Kickstarter campaign and will raise the remaining $32,000 through a combination of grants and private donations.
