Two Barrettes: Irving & Julie

Two Barrettes: Irving & Julie

Presented by Spring Bull Studio and Gallery at Spring Bull Studio and Gallery

This November Spring Bull Gallery invites you to “Two Barretts: Irving & Julie”. The exhibition showcases the works of Irving & Julie Barrett. Shortly after Irving’s beloved wife Julie passed away in the spring of 2014 he was invited to have a show at Spring Bull Gallery featuring works of his and Julie’s. Irving received a BFA from Parson’s New School and an MFA from Pratt after working at the Museum of Modern Art. He has had numerous exhibitions at New York City’s NoHo Gallery and a one person show “Avian Aquidneck” at the Newport Art Museum in 2014. Irving’s art capture in color detail the subject matter whether it is birds, dogs or his beloved Julie, as in this exhibit. Julie preferred black and white drawings and clay to express her creativity. For this exhibition her drawings will feature words, sometimes of clusters of related things, quotes from movies or songs, and occasionally approaching a condition of poetry. Her dino clay figures on the other hand are awash in color and give full vent to her love for that aspect of art. Julie tended to shy away from participation in shows or exhibits. It is time for her work to be enjoyed by the public.
