National Juried Mixed Media Exhibit

National Juried Mixed Media Exhibit

Presented by Imago Foundation for the Arts at Imago

The Imago Foundation for the Arts (IFA)  presents their 11th annual open juried exhibit, featuring 30 mixed media pieces by 19 artists from across the country.

The work in the exhibit represents a wide variety of two- and three-dimensional mixed media works. The selected artists have embraced familiar materials like charcoal and paint while also working with photographic and craft processes, like fiber and ceramic. For instance, two-dimensional works by Christophillis Fontini are created with graphite, charcoal, conte crayon, ink and gouache while Chloe Cooper has used monofilament and wax.  The artists whose work was selected come from Alabama, California, Georgia, Massachusetts, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island.

Juror Santiago Cucullu selected the work from 153 submissions by 52 artists. An internationally renowned artist who creates mixed media installations, Cucullu creates elaborate, wall-sized murals that include sculpture and works on paper. He currently resides in Boston and teaches at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA). His work has been exhibited at the Mori Art Museum, Tokyo; Whitney Museum of American Art, NY; Museum of Modern Art, NY; Museum of Contemporary Art, La Jolla, CA; and Camden Arts Centre, London.
