“Van-Go” Bus Trip to the Harvard Museum of Natural History

“Van-Go” Bus Trip to the Harvard Museum of Natural History

Presented by Linden Place Mansion at Unknown

“Van-Go” Trips, a successful collaboration between Linden Place and the Bristol Art Museum, will continue its field trip series this fall with a visit to Cambridge, Massachusetts. Enjoy an opportunity to sit back, relax and depart from Bristol with door-door service to the Harvard Museum of Natural History on the campus of Harvard University. The Harvard Museum of Natural History is the most-visited attraction at Harvard—for its historical collections, its temporary exhibitions, and its new permanent galleries. Visitors will encounter the diversity of life on earth, from dinosaurs to fossil invertebrates and reptiles, to large mammals, birds and fish, and the only mounted Kronosaurus. The mineralogical galleries present a systematic display of meteorites, minerals and gemstones. One of the museum’s most famous treasures is the internationally acclaimed Ware Collection of Blaschka Glass Models of Plants, the “Glass Flowers.” This unique collection of over 4,000 models, representing more than 830 plant species, was created by glass artisans Leopold and Rudolf Blaschka, a father and son from Dresden, Germany. The commission began with only a few models in 1886 and continued for five decades. The bus departs Bristol from the municipal parking lot on Thames Street across from the Robin Rug building at 9:00am. A luxury coach will be used with restroom facilities on board for a comfortable ride.
