Laura Pergolizzi, better known as LP, began her singer/songwriter career in New York City. Eventually, she made her way to Los Angeles to further pursue songwriting, only to end up writing songs for artists like Rihanna, Cher, Christina Aguilera and many others.

It wasn’t until 2012 that LP refocused attention on her own songwriting and released the Into The Wild (Live at EastWest Studios) EP, whose title track landed a spot on a Citibank commercial receiving heavy exposure. This time the exposure was just what LP needed and in 2014 she released her full-length, Forever For Now.

Hailed as an album ‘filled with sprawling pop songs that soar’ (American Songwriter), and ‘heart-stopping power pop ballads’ (NPR), Forever For Now was an album of celebration, of both LP’s career as well as her personal relationships. ‘It was a really happy time for me for all of the obvious reasons and that really came out in the songwriting,” LP reflects. ‘ And if that album was the celebration, this new album is the hangover.”

Serving as a follow up to Forever For Now, LP is gearing up to release a new full-length on Vagrant Records. In preparation for the record, LP is releasing a 5 song EP, which will include her recently released singles, Lost on You and Muddy Waters. Full of dark and brooding context, Muddy Waters resonates like a gospel accounting for the life and death of a toxic relationship. Reflective of the long-term relationship LP had been entangled in, Muddy Waters’ context is two fold, also representing the state our planet is in environmentally speaking. ‘Muddy Waters is definitely a relationship song, but while writing I just kept comparing my situation to how we treat our planet. We just keep destroying and destructing, and we know we’re doing it, but we keep going anyways.’

Following the release of Muddy Waters, single Lost On You also helped convey the loneliness and confusion LP was faced with, which made it feel natural to release them together as a precursor for the album to come. ‘These two tracks have in common that they were written before I really knew what was up. Looking back, I was in denial. I just didn’t want to deal with reality. For that reason, they feel good together and are the perfect departure from Forever For Now.’
