Presented by City of Providence Department of Art, Culture + Tourism at Unknown

January 18, 2024 – March 19, 2024

Opening Night reception January 18, 2024, from 4:30–6 PM

PantherArt@CityHall brings the beautiful imagining and wonder-filled mark-making of 400+ young creators from Pleasant View Elementary School to the hallowed halls of 25 Dorrance St. In collaboration with the art teacher, PantherArt@CityHall is a fun, inspired, and inspiring look at what art is and what art can be. PantherArt@CityHall guarantees more hearts, rainbows, and Panthers per square foot of gallery wall space than any other show you might view this year.

Pleasant View Elementary, located in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood of Providence, Rhode Island, is a public school serving more than 400 students, Pre-K through grade 5. As is typical of urban schools, not all of the students begin or end their artistic elementary journey at Pleasant View. But, as the saying goes, “Once a Panther, forever a Panther – WITH PRIDE!” Former Panthers will be proudly represented.

Art teacher and chief collaborator Robert Boerner has served in Providence Public Schools for many years; as a parent (his own children are Pleasant View alumni), a teacher assistant, a world history teacher at Roger Williams Middle School, and now, back in the den, as a second year art teacher at Pleasant View. He shares the sentiment of one of his younger students who, upon learning of PantherArt@CityHall, exclaimed, “All of my dreams are coming true!”
