NaBSCO presents “Resonance and Revolution”, a concert with music by Bach/Elgar, Boyd and Beach, featuring choral group, Coro Amante, and soprano soloist, Krista Wilhelmsen in Boyd’s moving “Sheltering Voices,” plus Amy Beach’s “Gaelic Symphony.”
The Narragansett Bay Symphony Community Orchestra (NaBSco) invites audiences to its season opener, “Resonance & Revolution,” on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 7:30 pm at the East Providence High School auditorium.
Under the direction of conductor, Kristo Kondakçi, the concert begins with Johann Sebastian Bach’s Fantasy and Fugue, a masterpiece of baroque intricacy, reimagined through the orchestration of Edward Elgar. Recognizing Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the concert continues with the deeply moving “Sheltering Voices” by Stephanie Ann Boyd featuring the women of Coro Amante, under the direction of Joseph Amante y Zapata, with soprano soloist, Krista Wilhelmsen. Amy Beach’s Symphony in E Minor, Op. 32 ,”Gaelic”, concludes the concert. Not only was the “Gaelic Symphony” a pioneering effort in fusing folk elements, but it also proudly stands as the first symphony both composed and published by an American woman.
In our commitment to community engagement, our admission policy is “Pay what you think is fair.” We also encourage attendees to bring a non-perishable food item for donation.
