New exhibit at Imago features artworks by IFA artist Meredith Wolf and guest artist Dennis Delomba

New exhibit at Imago features artworks by IFA artist Meredith Wolf and guest artist Dennis Delomba

Presented by Imago Foundation for the Arts at Imago

A reception for the artists will be held on Saturday, July 16 from 5 – 8 p.m. at Imago Gallery, 36 Market Street, Warren, with music by Ned Connors. All are invited to this free, public event.

Wolf is an intuitive abstract painter. A New Jersey native, she earned a BFA in textile design from Syracuse University and received her art teacher certification from Montclair State University after which she taught art at the primary level in Newark, N.J.  Wolf has since attended workshops at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and studied with other artists. Her influences include the ocean, the haunting music of Leonard Cohen, and Native American culture. She has also studied Shamanism and earth-based religion.

She calls the paintings in this exhibit, “The World Between Time.” In presenting this artwork, she invites the viewer “to go deeply into yourself, embracing all your deepest emotions, a place where time is ephemeral as you allow yourself to drift and drift and drift. Enter the realm of timelessness through a vortex, a place where there is no day or night, a place where you are at one with yourself, your ancestors and children, a realm where there is no separation between you, the land, and its creatures.  You are there with the earth mother.”

Delomba is an artist and veteran art educator with an MFA from RISD and a BA from Rhode Island College where he received an Outstanding Alumni Award. After a successful career in contemporary ceramics and glass, Delomba has focused more recently on drawing and painting.

He says, “Painting has become a place in which I analyze, relive and re-experience life events in both the most complex and primal languages.  For me, painting is the ultimate challenge, the most comprehensive voice, and the most connective encounter of all the fragments and layers of the scattered self.  Looking over human history, I can see nothing better than to be a powerful painter.”

In addition to the featured artists, other IFA artists who will be participating in the exhibit include Sally Barker, Eileen Siobhan Collins, Mary Dondero, Stephen Fisher, Carl Keitner, Eileen Mayhew, Yolanda Mazzoni, Linda Megathlin, Mercedes Nuñez, Anne Marie Rossi, Howard Rotblat-Walker, Lenny Rumpler, Howard Windham and Meredith Wolf.
