WaterFire Providence Full Lighting - “Then. Now. Next: 50 Years of Women at Providence College”

Onshore activities will begin at 5:00 p.m.

The lighting will begin around 7:00 p.m. and the fires will remain lit until 11:00 p.m. This weekend marks a number of events at PC that the college is excited to share with the City of Providence including, paying tribute to 50 Years of Women at Providence College, welcoming College President Fr. Kenneth R. Sicard, O.P., and celebrating the Class of 2020. The evening will kick off with a special performance by the Providence College A Cappella Group with a Ring of Fire torch ceremony of 100 torchbearers to follow.

Providence College’s year-long celebration of, “50 Years of Women at PC – Then, Now, Next”, kicks off this Saturday commemorating the first female class admitted to PC in 1971; highlighting women who have blazed a trail in academics, athletics, and administration. This is one of many events PC will be planning throughout the school year to celebrate the achievements of women at the College. At the confluence, where the rivers meet by Steeple Street, there will be an installation of fifty luminous blue stars celebrating fifty years of women at Providence College; representing their dreams and acknowledging their hard work, dedication, and perseverance.
