The Nonviolence Institute (NVI) invites you to Invest in Peace by joining us at the Temple to Music in Roger Williams Park on Sunday, September 26, 11am – 3pm. This free family-friendly event celebrates The Beloved Community – one of justice, peace and harmony – that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. envisioned.

Invest in Peace will feature a peace rally, music, a choir, poetry, drumming, and a marching band! There will also be opportunities to learn more about nonviolence and nonviolence training. The Temple to Music will be bustling with food trucks and we encourage attendees to bring picnics and lawn chairs.

At 11am there will be sign-making for children and adults, followed by the Peace Rally and Awards Program. This year we honor community leader Dewayne “Boo” Hackney with the Sister Ann Keefe Award and Edward “Ned” O. Handy III and Washington Trust with the Community Impact Award. These awards are given to accomplished individuals and organizations for their outstanding efforts and contribution to Rhode Island.
