Newport String Project’s “Resounding” weekend includes one-to-one micro-concerts at the Newport Art Museum on Saturday, and a string quartet gala concert on Sunday at the IYRS Restoration Hall.
Saturday, June 5 – One-to-One Concerts
10am-3pm
A day of micro-concerts for one musician and one listener or pod of listeners. Microstages will be set up at the various locations at the Newport Art Museum and Redwood Library. Featuring an afternoon performance by students of Newport String Project on the Youth Stage. Suggested donation $25
Sunday, June 6 – Gala Concert with Newport String Quartet at IYRS
5pm-6pm
“Shop Talk” an informal conversation with local masters David Snediker and Karl Dennis on boat-building and violin-making. Gala concert featuring string quartets by Caroline Shaw, Florence Price, Rhiannon Giddens and Grazyna Bacewicz.
