An engaging class for children at the historic Providence Art Club.
Explorations in Art: Places and Spaces
Sunday, October 18 2020
1:00pm – 2:30pm
For children 9-12 year olds
Lead Instructor: Karen Murtha
Assistant: Toni Dumville
Class limit: 5 children, social distancing will be maintained.
After a brief introduction to the Art Club, the class will focus on the unique architecture and atmosphere of the building’s interior and exterior. Using a sketchbook, children with instructors will take a walking tour on Thomas Street to admire and sketch the eclectic collection of doors, windows, columns and rooftops. Inside the Club, students will sketch the unusual decorative details.
The health and safety of the community is the Art Club’s top priority. This workshop is limited to 5 children, and each attendee will have their temperature taken by a no-touch thermometer upon arrival. Hand sanitizer will also be available and students will maintain appropriate distance.
Due to the limited space for this workshop, there will be no refunds for the course fee. Please be considerate when signing up as there is a great deal of demand for programming. Children will receive their own, individualized, set of art materials, which they will be able to take home.
Studio space: Outside or Maxwell Mays Gallery
