Wash Away Your Fears

Wash Away Your Fears

Presented by Illegal Art at Pedestrian Bridge

We all have fears — those that have been carried with us since childhood, those that keep us up at night, and those we will inevitably face in our future. They can reveal actual apprehensions or fabricated worries that will never play out in real life. Wash Away Your Fears prompts participants to grasp the figurative phrase of washing away your fears, and make it a literal, cathartic action. Share and let go of the fears you carry by writing them down with chalk on the sidewalk, and then washing them away with a purging bucket of water and a broom.

The piece was installed by Illegal Art Co-Founder, Otis Kriegel, in front of Town Hall in Provincetown, Massachusetts, on August 6th, 2020. For images, please see our Instagram: @illegalart2001
