Get ready for three nights of contemporary dance performance! Local and national artists will converge in Providence to share their boundary-pushing creative explorations.

The inaugural festival will focus on solos showcasing the diversity of who makes dance and the types of dance being made today. Each night’s unique program will include work by artists from Rhode Island, New York City, New England, and beyond. Interspersed between the performances will be short films of dances made specifically for film.

The Motion State Dance Festival is organized by Ali Kenner Brodsky, David Henry, Lila Hurwitz and Andy Russ. (It was briefly known as Kicking & Screening: Live & Alone.)
