The Sonata Series #2 features MusicWorks Collective Resident Musicians Adrienne Taylor and Miguel Vasquez with pianist Andrei Baumann in a concert of Beethoven and Schubert.
The Sonata Series pairs MusicWorks Collective musicians with pianists from across New England for dynamic duo performances.
On December 19, the program features two of our resident cellists with pianist Andrei Baumann. Miguel Vasquez will perform Beethoven’s arrangements of two arias from Mozart’s The Magic Flute: Ein Mädchen Oder Weibchen and Bein Mannern, Welche Liebe Fühlen.
We’ll also hear the celebrated Arpeggione Sonata by Franz Schubert, performed by Adrienne Taylor. The Arpeggione Sonata was originally written for the Arpeggione, a now extinct instrument that was essentially a bowed guitar, and is often heard these days in its virtuosic transcriptions for cello and piano.
Admission to the Museum and concert is free as part of RISD Museum’s Third Thursday event. No ticket purchase is required.
