The exhibit features art work in all media focusing on art as healing and an expression of the impact of anxiety and depression.  For some artists, the work expresses their struggle living their daily lives while experiencing anxiety and depression – trying to understand and trying to cope. For others the work is an expression of peace, joy and celebration – the happy place that allows them release.

The exhibit features drawings from the Anxiety Project by Performance Artist William Doan. Dr. Doan is the Theatre Professor and Artist Laureate of the College of Nursing from Penn State University. It will also include the work by a group of dynamic area artists: Nadine Almada, Kyle Balles, Mary Jane Began, Angel Cajigas-Arbelo, Mariela Calabro, Judi Case, Ted DiLucia, Tamara Diaz, Melanie Ducharme, Lilian Engel, Eran Fraenkel, Joanne Ficorilli, Susan Garland, Charlie Hall, Pop Icon, Bina Jackson, Annie Kennedy, Gerard Avila LeDoux, Michelle Lee, Nixon Leger, Kyle Machado, Thomas Marino, Madolin Maxey, Sarina Mitchel, Amie Noakes, Aldolfo Peralta, Zach Prosser, Rob Russo, Christopher Thomas, Judy Volkmann, and Joy Williams.

FROZEN IN THE TOILET PAPER AISLE OF LIFE from the Anxiety Project

A part of his Anxiety Project, Frozen In The Toilet Paper Aisle Of Life combines stories and drawings into a very personal and in depth look at the complex ways we understand anxiety and depression. Both his drawings and performance take the spectator on an adventure into the many ways Doan lives with his anxiety and depression, but also how those conditions have become the focus of his creative work. A mix of comedy and drama with a dash of science and research, Frozen In The Toilet Paper Aisle Of Life looks honestly at how one person lives with anxiety and depression with the hope it will help someone else break free from the stigma of mental illness and find their own path to achieving mental health.
