Winter’s Eve – 9th Annual Juried Art Exhibit

Opening reception: Thursday, December 5th 6pm – 8pm

JUROR – LORENA PUGH (www.lorenapugh.com) Working in oils as a contemporary realist, Lorena has received a number of national and international awards. She earned a BFA from Pratt Institute and attended classes at the Art Students League, the School of Visual Arts and Rhode Island School of Design.

Lorena has recently finished a two-year project to produce a body of work relating to Narragansett Bay. The project culminated in a show at Dryden Gallery in Providence RI this October, with partial proceeds going to an environmental group for the bay. She is also represented by Renjeau Gallery in Boston MA, Coastal Contemporary Gallery in Newport RI and PS Gallery in Litchfield Ct.

The Winter’s Eve 2019 “Juror’s Award” includes a SOLO 2020 Exhibit* at the gallery. *Artist’s option.

ELIGIBILITY: Artists are invited to submit up to 3 pieces for consideration. A maximum of 2 pieces may be selected for hanging.

HOW TO ENTER (please follow instructions carefully): Complete and email the following items to friendseglibrary@gmail.com, with “WINTER’S EVE 2019” in the subject line (PLEASE check for completeness and readability – especially your contact information):

  1.  Artwork Submission Form- see page 2 of instructions (available as PDF and WORD doc on the Winter’s Eve webpage) https://www.eastgreenwichlibrary.org/winters-eve
  2. JPEG images (3 max) LABELED WITH THE TITLE OF ARTWORK only and attached to the email.
    • JPEGS should be 6 inches in the larger direction at 300 ppi.
    • JPEG should be art image only – no frames or other background visible.
  3. Make payment via Paypal or check to East Greenwich Library: $10 per piece or $25 for 3 pieces.

ARTWORK: There is NO required theme. All work must be “exhibition ready” to install with appropriate hardware (no saw tooth hangers or clips). Work that does not adhere to the guidelines or is deemed not to be a faithful representation of the image submitted will not be exhibited. Maximum size = 40” framed in any direction. No sculpture. PLEASE NOTE: the Library’s gallery is a public space and artwork must be “appropriate” to viewers of all ages. The Friends of East Greenwich Free Library may refuse to hang any artwork that is deemed inappropriate.

FEE: With your artwork submission form, as a fundraiser for the Library, a $10 entry fee per piece or $25 for three pieces will be payable (send check to the Friends of East Greenwich Free Library or make payment via Paypal). Paypal can be accessed through the website www.eastgreenwichlibrary.org “Winter’s Eve” tab.

Artists receive 100% of sales. No commission taken by the Library.

The Friends of the Library is an all volunteer association of individuals dedicated to supporting Library services and programs. Their vision is for all to enjoy the Library as a community learning and gathering place. Over 400 visitors enter the Library daily.
