Watchemoket Square Day - 8th Annual

Presented by East Providence Area Chamber of Commerce at Tockwotton on the Waterfront

Activities include:

Free raffle drawings for gift baskets filled with items donated by local businesses.

Watchemoket Square Winter Wear Clothing Drive: Bring your gently-used winter clothing and drop them off in donation boxes at the event.

The popular “Kids Korner” returns with free face painting and balloon animals at the Ligthhouse Baptist Church booth.

Take your picture on the big stage at the JDP Theater Company’s booth

An exhibit about Sowams Heritage Area will be on display and hosted by the East Providence Historical Society to introduce people to the historic and natural sites in the area that reveal the Native American and colonial presence in the 17th century.  They will also be hosting history walking tours along Waterfront Drive.

Tockwotton on the Waterfront’s theater will feature presentations about East Providence’s waterfront development, Bold Point, Kettle Point, etc., and a discussion about the Sowams Heritage Area.

University of Rhode Island’s marine archaeologist, David Robinson, returns to continue the discussion about his research on twenty-nine ships buried in the “Ship Graveyard” in Green Jack Shoal, located off Bold Point in East Providence.

Food will be available for sale at local establishments and in the Café at Tockwotton on the Waterfront.
