IMAGO: Pascale Lord and guest artist Michael Guertin

IMAGO: Pascale Lord and guest artist Michael Guertin

Presented by Imago Foundation for the Arts at Imago

A free, public reception for the artists will be held on Friday, September 7 from 6 – 8 p.m.

Lord has created an installation that she calls, “Voyage, Voyage.” Her artwork addresses the journey that we all take in life not only through worldly travels, but also by experiencing the passage of time and aging, in which images, memories softly disappear. Born and raised in France, Lord graduated from Strasbourg University with a double major in art and education. She taught art in the French school system until 2004 when she moved with her family to Seattle, WA. There, she was an active member of Gallery 110 and participated in several exhibitions on the West Coast before moving to Rhode Island in 2011. A resident of Barrington, RI, she continues to focus on her art work and teaching.

Digital media artist Michael Guertin presents award-winning photographic evidence of his claim that \”we can imagine a multitude of worlds from anysingle snippet of reality.\” Guertin, a one-time cognitive psychologist and statistician, shows us a world rearranged in space and time. In his work which he has titled, “ReVisions,” we see familiar street scenes, clearly identifiable objects, and well-known landscapes. But these are not untouched photographic records of reality. People and parts of a scene are often duplicated or reflected. Movement in his videos can be oddly distorted or synchronized with the rhythm of a soundtrack. What\’s real has become surreal. To realize his vision of \”multiple worlds\”, Guertin himself writes the software that generates the images and videos shown in this exhibit and in galleries across the country.

Other IFA artists whose artwork will be on exhibit includeEileen Siobhan Collins, Mary Dondero, Philip Gruppuso, Betty Harrington, Carl Keitner, Pascale Lord, Eileen Mayhew, Linda Megathlin, Rina Naik, Kol Naylor, Mercedes Nuñez, Maria Rodriguez, Anne Marie Rossi, Lenny Rumpler, Howard Rotblat-Walker and Howard Windham.

Regular gallery hours are Thursday from 4 – 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday noon – 8 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
