Hearthside House Museum presents an elegant Victorian afternoon tea, themed as a Victorian bridal shower. Perfect timing for spring blooms in warmer weather, Mother’s Day, brides-to-be or special time with friends.
The Victorian Tea will include a fashion presentation about bridal trousseaus and underpinnings by a fashion historian. Spring flowers, Victorian fashions, delicate lace and china, freshly brewed tea, and an array of fancy miniature sandwiches and sweets all contribute to the experience of a traditional Victorian Tea, served in the most elegant setting of this historic home.
There will also be prizes, raffles, gifts to purchase and more. Fancy hats encouraged!
In keeping with the 2018 Year of Romance theme, Hearthside has already hosted a display of wedding dresses that spanned centuries, witnessed a couple renewing their vows at the historic Saylesville Quaker Meetinghouse, and held a candlelight 1921 Victorian dinner party to ‘welcome home’ newlyweds from their honeymoon ocean liner cruise.
