The Cuarteto Latinoamericano is a world-renowned, multiple Latin Grammy-winning string quartet from Latin America. Formed in Mexico in 1981, they have toured extensively in Europe, the Americas, Israel, China, Japan and New Zealand. The recipient of the Mexican Music Critics Association award and three-time winner of Chamber Music America’s “most adventurous programming” awards, the group has premiered more than a hundred musical works written for them by Latin America’s leading composers.
This concert explores the classical works of several of the most important Latin American composers of the 20th century, like Heitor Villa-Lobos, Francisco Mignone, and Astor Piazzolla, and including works of Leo Brouwer, Miguel Del Aguila, and Alejandro Cardona, who are actively composing today.
