6x6: Power of Play: Youth Development and Educational Advancement

6x6: Power of Play: Youth Development and Educational Advancement

Presented by Rhode Island Teaching Artist Center and Providence CityArts for Youth at Brown University - Ashamu Dance Studio

What does Grandmaster Flash’s cutting, scratching, and mixing music have in common with youth development? Turning things upside down, making a mess, engaging in activities for enjoyment: play is a healthy, essential part of childhood– and the creative process. Brown University’s Department of Theatre & Performance Studies Rhythm of Change Festival hosts “Power of Play: Youth Development and Educational Advancement”, a Rhode Island Teaching Artist Center’s “6×6” event, featuring 6 creatives presenting for 6 minutes on the element of play in their work and the opportunities they provide for youth to create new and exciting artistic endeavors. This event will be followed by audience Q&A and open time to meet and mingle.

This event is part of Brown University’s Rhythm of Change Festival. It is sponsored by the RI Teaching Artist Center/Providence CityArts for Youth.
