Two of today’s most exciting Mexican-American bands are forging inspired new paths in Latin music: The infectious indie band Orkesta Mendoza mix a multitude of Latin styles, electronics, hip-hop, ska and 60’s rock styles through a psychedelic mambo and post-punk prism, creating a truly one-of-a-kind sound. Alternative Chicano band, Las Cafeteras, creates a wildly vibrant musical fusion, with a unique East LA sound and a socially-conscious message, using traditional Son Jarocho instruments which include a donkey jawbone and a tarima.
