Author Event : My Family Record Book with Harris "Hershey" Rosen

at Pawtucket Public Library

Harris, “Hershey” Rosen, of Providence, former CEO of RI’s iconic company, School House Candy, will speak at the Pawtucket Public Library for this free informal talk and workshop based on Rosen’s book, “My Family Record Book”.  His book addresses the importance of pre-planning and organization, both in business and for one’s family and personal life.

“The breadth of knowledge about the mechanics and logistics of one’s life that resides almost exclusively in our own heads can create chaos if we are not around. Whether it’s a long vacation, an extended illness, or even our own death, I’ve spent decades eliminating chaos and hopefully creating peace of mind and an ease of transition for those around me in business and with my family. I decided that it needed to be shared in a guidebook that can help others, and now I’m speaking about it as more information exists than ever before but it is not being captured in a systematic way.”

Rosen applies the advice he received in his first year at Harvard University in that the goal is not to memorize information, but rather to learn where to get it. As the CEO of School House Candy, based in Pawtucket, for 40 years, he first developed his system to locate any item housed in five factories, covering 600,000 square feet.
