   Providence

I am originally from Providence, Rhode Island, and have been involved with the community of arts organizations since I participated in their after-school art programs in high school (specifically, New Urban Arts and AS220). I later began working as a resident teaching artist at Providence City Arts for Youth, and aimed to give others what these organizations gave to me when I was growing up — the opportunity to find their artistic voice. These spaces are what inspired me to become a practicing artist, and fulfill my future goals of pursuing art therapy and community art education. The themes and symbolic elements in my pieces revolve around the ideas of strength and personal growth, as well as community and the beautiful environment that surrounds us. I am influenced by Russian folk art and Byzantine icon paintings, lively color, organic shapes found in nature, nice and fresh lighting, interior and textile design, my experience as a teaching artist, as well as a million other things. Basically, I am inspired by the beautiful things and people in the community that surround me every single day.
