I am a mixed media artist and self-taught silk painter living in Rehoboth, MA and working full time in Providence, RI for a local nonprofit. I earned my BFA on scholarship from Umass Amherst and turned to silk painting shortly after graduating. Having worked primarily in black and white throughout my duration of schooling, I was immediately drawn to the vibrancy of colors in silk painting. As a self-taught silk painter, I have been an active participant in local arts shows and festivals since April of 2010, primarily exhibiting and selling hand painted silk scarves, and creating and showing paintings on the side. On 10-10-10, I launched my online store for scarves, "Joy in My Studio", which became an official registered business. I have since taught silk painting workshops, and have received national recognition and awards for my fine art.
