Foundeded in 1942, the URI College of Continuing Education located on the URI Feinstein Providence Campus was created to serve the educational and professional needs of Rhode Islanders and nearby Massachusetts residents. The students find a supportive community on our urban campus. In addition to meeting their educational needs, they are provided opportunities through our Urban Arts and Culture Program.
The Urban Arts and Culture Program at URI Feinstein Providence Campus presents a diverse spectrum of visual and performing arts programming, exploring topical issues in the community setting and celebrating the cultural diversity of the community to promote understanding and teach non-violence. The programs involve students from the university at all levels, working with hundreds of individuals of all ages and ethnic backgrounds from the community.
It offers opportunities to present the work of URI students faculty and alumni, and to introduce the work of local, national and international artists to an audience, some of whom do not regularly attend arts events. The program fosters collaborative partnerships with community social service agencies, arts institutions and area schools creating a strong educational network.
