Wingate Book Club: ‘BUtterfield 8’

The book club at Wingate Residences on the East Side will discuss ‘BUtterfield 8’ by John O’Hara. Based on an unsolved murder of a young woman in the 1930s, O’Hara’s fictional narrative explores her life before the incident. An unapologetic social commentary, BUtterfield 8 examines the role of class in the lives of people in the post-Great Depression era. The Wingate book club launched eight years ago and remains one of the community’s most popular programs; since its inception, the club has read nearly 100 books. Book club meets the fourth Monday of each month and is free and open to the public.
