Theresa Girard: a degree of curiosity

On view in the Dodge House Gallery, artist Theresa Girard will be exhibiting a combination of paintings and sculptures. The sculptures are a dedication to her 40 year journey with her brother who suffered a traumatic brain injury at a young age. By constructing these figurative forms out of her brother’s old t-shirts, Ms. Girard feels a sense of healing with every rip as she pieces it all together. Alongside these powerful sculptures will hang Ms. Girard’s gestural abstract paintings. By fully immersing herself in the process of layers and history, Ms. Girard seeks to find a soft conflict in color with varying degrees of simplification.
