Tank and the Bangas: Songwriting Workshop

New Orleans-based Tank and the Bangas combines rock, gospel, funk, folk, soul, hip-hop and spoken word to create a signature sound like no other. The band’s calibrated chemistry on drum, bass, synthesizer, saxophone and flute complements the infectious energy of lead singer Tarriona “Tank” Ball. “Seeing a Tank and the Bangas show is an exercise in positivity,” writes Jon Freeman in Rolling Stone, “bringing the spiritual uplift of their church background into a joyful secular context.” In 2017, the band won NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest, which brought much deserved recognition for Tank’s distinctive style.

The band visits Brown to lead a songwriting workshop in the afternoon followed by an evening concert. The workshop will take place on Apr 3 at 12:00 pm in Martinos Auditorium at Granoff Center for the Creative Arts (154 Angell St., Providence, RI 02906). It is FREE and is open to select participants by audition (now closed) and to the public as audience members.
