Pulitzer Prize-winning author Yusef Komunyakaa

Moses Brown School will host Pulitzer Prize-winning author Yusef Komunyakaa as its 2017 visiting poet as part of the MB Annual Poetry Series. Komunyakaa is the author of Neon Vernacular: New and Selected Poems which won the Pulitzer Prize. In the collection, Komunyakaa pulls together the most powerful strands of his poetic vision: those of the South and its culture, of black resilience to white supremacy, of war in Southeast Asia, of urban experience, and of musical forms such as blues and jazz. Komunyakaa’s other works include Warhorses, Taboo: The Wishbone Trilogy, Part 1, Pleasure Dome: New & Collected Poems, Talking Dirty to the Gods, and Thieves of Paradise, which was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. His most recent collections of poetry include The Chameleon Couch, Testimony: A Tribute to Charlie Parker, and Emperor of Water Clocks.
