Mayor Jorge O. Elorza, the City of Providence Department of Art, Culture + Tourism, East Commerce Solutions and Skyline at Waterplace are pleased to announce the third One Providence New Year’s Eve by Skyline celebration taking place on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Waterplace Park.
The event follows a successful 2018 celebration and will offer an array of activities: complimentary outdoor entertainment, complete with a warming tent for families; a ticketed black-tie gala, and a celebration on the rooftop of the Skyline at Waterplace events venue. “Providence is the place of be on New Year’s Eve,” said Mayor Jorge Elorza. “With a ball drop, laser show and fireworks, the Creative Capital will be bustling with fun activities for all ages to enjoy as we welcome 2020.”
To welcome 2020, Providence will host a free outdoor spectacular in Waterplace Park beginning at 7pm, which will feature a classic New Year’s Eve ball drop, a laser light show, and a spectacular fireworks display. In addition, Finance Way will be closed to traffic to accommodate a host of Providence’s legendary food trucks. Popular holiday beverages and souvenirs will also be sold throughout the night in the Basin.
“Skyline at Waterplace is once again ready to bring the Time Square of Providence New Year’s event back to our City. This year we’re excited to have East Commerce Solutions as our presenting sponsor again and introduce even more surprises,” said Michael Mota, CEO of Skyline. “We want to see the City of Providence filled with people excited to bring in the New Year!”
Also beginning at 7pm, the black-tie gala event at Skyline will include passed hors d’oeuvres, dinner, desserts, party favors, cash bar, a champagne toast at midnight, entertainment from multiple DJs, and special live performances.
At 9pm, a tented rooftop celebration will begin, and include light fare from Skyline, entertainment, and front row viewing of the ball drop and firework show.
