Celebrated Chicago songwriter Michael P. Smith performs original songs inspired by Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick. Smith’s stirring compositions set the texts from this seminal novel as ballads, shanties, story-songs and powerful anthems. Best known for writing “The Dutchman,” Smith has been singing and composing since the 1960s, and his rich and challenging songs have been recorded by more than 30 performers.
