Lindsay Straw CD Release w/ The Vox Hunters

Boston-based traditional folk singer, guitarist & bouzouki player Lindsay Straw is celebrating the release of her second solo album “The Fairest Flower of Womankind” with a split bill show with Providence’s The Vox Hunters at 186 Carpenter in Providence! Lindsay’s music is heavily influenced by British folk legends June Tabor, Frankie Armstrong, John Renbourn, and the Scottish Traveller singing tradition. Her latest release is a collection of traditional songs featuring triumphant heroines and clever ladies getting their due. “Hearken(s) back to more innocent times, of Greenwich Village and pure folk.” The Living Tradition Armand Aromin and Benedict Gagliardi (The Vox Hunters) are musically bound by a shared love of traditional folk music. Though originally united through Irish instrumental music, they share an enthusiastic affinity for an ever-growing amalgam of songs both inside and far outside the realm of ‘folk music’. With a pair of oft-harmonizing voices accompanied by fiddle, free reeds, and tenor guitar, The Vox Hunters present an exciting and eclectic repertoire of traditional folk songs, driving dance tunes, sean nos dancing and other musical varia.
