An American holiday that commemorates the June 19, 1865 announcement of the abolition of slavery.
Traditionally, Juneteenth is celebrated by African Americans to celebrate our emancipation from slavery; however, during our first annual Juneteenth RI celebration we are looking to create a celebration to conjoin people of the African Diaspora (Americas, Caribbean and Africa) through arts and culture.
