John Udvardy Sculpture

John Udvardy Invitation Postcard

The Chazan Gallery at Wheeler is pleased to present John Udvardy Sculpture, a solo exhibition featuring the work by John Udvardy, from November 18 to December 8, 2021. There will be an opening reception for the artist on November 18, from 5:00 – 8:00

John Udvardy gets great pleasure and inspiration by using and reshaping objects and materials that in many cases predate his existence on this planet. The age-worn patinas and unknown histories and origins of these objects and forms hopefully create a dialogue with each other to bring a poetic mystery that helps to energize Udvardy’s work and vision.

During the construction process certain arrangements of shapes can inspire Udvardy to start thinking about a new piece of sculpture or another

The age-worn patinas and unknown histories and origins of these objects and forms hopefully create a dialogue with each other to bring a poetic mystery that helps to energize Udvardy’s work and vision.

During the construction process certain arrangements of shapes can inspire Udvardy to start thinking about a new piece of sculpture or another direction to move into. He finds that work inspires new pieces and new directions. Inspiration is born from working, and that helps to keep him going back to the studio each day — to be reborn again.

It’s very satisfying for Udvardy to work with his hands and use hand held tools in the shaping and forming of his sculptures. The craftsmanship of how well the materials and things he uses in his work are put together, and how they are joined together, is of paramount importance to him.
