Providence’s Black opera diva, Sissieretta Jones, grew up on College Hill in Providence. She went on to be the highest paid African American performer for 28 years as she toured the world, sang for 4 US preseidents, and retired to the East Side to live out her days. She owned several properities, sang in Providence’s oldest Black church, and had deep ties to many East Siders. Join Ray Rickman on this fascinating tour of sites and stories.
