The Emancipation Day Celebration is the oldest and first celebration, celebrating the beginning of the abolishment of slavery in this country.
Without the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation by President Lincoln issued on January 1st 1863 there is no other celebrations of any kind of freedom in this country for people of color.
