Día de Los Muertos | Day of the Dead Cultural Celebration

Community Altar. Bring flowers and a photo of a loved one to place on an ofrenda, community altar. You may bring a luminary for the ofrenda, but an open flame is not recommended. The altar will remain on display @SCC until November 6th.

Crafts. Families who arrive at 6PM can participate in a series of free educational crafts related to Día de Los Muertos, led by RILA artist Jesús de la Torre. From 6-6:30pm only, face painting ($5 per person) will also be offered to help you fully get into the spirit of Día de Los Muertos.

Music and Cultural Performances by Mariachis de Brown and Grupo Ballet Guadalupano.

Procession. A fun-filled procession leaving SouthLight will begin at 6:45pm, when we will walk towards Grace Church Cemetery (across Broad Street). Bring a luminary to carry as we make our way to the cemetery. Wear comfortable shoes! Tours and living history performances will be led by teens from the Manton Avenue Project as we honor the dead who are buried there.

With the exception of face painting, this event is FREE and open to the all! Families, children welcome and must be accompanied by an adult for the procession.
