Día de Los Muertos | Day of the Dead Celebration

The most honorable way to celebrate El Día de Los Muertos and loved ones who have passed is with remembrance and a celebration of their lives. 

• Community Altar. Bring flowers and a photo of a loved one to place on an ofrenda, community altar. You may bring a luminary for the ofrenda, but an open flame is not recommended. The altar will remain on display at Southside Cultural Center of Rhode Island until November 11th.
• Performance. We invite anyone who wishes to remember a loved one with a performance such as a song, story or reading. Performances are limited to 5-minutes each — to participate, you must contact Marta V. Martínez at marta@rilatinoarts.org by 10/30.
• Procession. A fun-filled procession leaving SouthLight will begin at 6:45pm, when we will walk towards Grace Church Cemetery (across Broad Street). Bring a luminary to carry as we make our way to the cemetery. Wear comfortable shoes! Tours and living history performances will be led by teens from the Manton Avenue Project as we honor the dead who are buried there.
