Beethoven and more at the Redwood Library

On Saturday March 21st at 3pm, the Newport String Project returns to the beautiful surrounds of the Redwood Library for an afternoon of chamber music suffused with the vitality and boldness of spring.

Newport String Project resident musicians Ealain McMullin violin and Jacob Mackay cello will be joined by guests Jesse MacDonald (violin) and Rebecca Barnett (viola) for a program of works exploring dazzling and vibrant textures for strings. The concert will feature Shostakovich’s optimistic String Quartet No 1, a vigorous and dramatic duo for violin and cello by the seldom-heard English composer Imogen Holst and Beethoven’s bold String Quartet op 18 no 4.
