AIDS Project RI was founded approximately 30 years ago as a non-profit organization dedicated to providing compassionate, non-judgmental and collaborative response to the needs of people infected, affected and at-risk of HIV/AIDS.

In 2008, The Project expanded its array of services by merging with another AIDS Service Organization (ASO), Family Service of RI. The unification of two major ASOs created a broader system of care accessible through one entry point.
Today, The Project, as a division of Family Service of RI, continues its tradition of excellence while energetically developing new programs and approaches to meet today’s challenges.
